The Council of the Federal Chamber of LawyersThe Council of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation is a collegial executive body of the Chamber
Its membership is approved by the All-Russian Congress of Lawyers. The Chamber’s Council is composed of not more than 30 members, and is subject to biennial rotation of one third of its membership.
Candidates who may be withdrawn from their positions, as well as candidates for vacant positions are offered by the President of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers.
The Council of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers elects from its members the President and vice-presidents of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers and defines their authority. Not less than once in two years the Council of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers convenes an All-Russian Congress of Lawyers.
The Council represents the Federal Chamber of Lawyers in state bodies and local self-administration bodies, protects social and professional rights of the lawyers, coordinates the activity of the chambers of lawyers, assists the improvement of professional skills and knowledge of the lawyers, participates in carrying out expert examination of projects of federal laws on the issues, concerned with the Bar and advocacy, and exercises other functions, defined by the Federal Law “On Advocacy and the Bar in the Russian Federation” and the Statute of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers.
According to the main lines of activity, the Scientific Advisory Board, Expert and Methodical Division and number of commissions and workshops are formed under the authority of the Council.
